Setting the Benchmark: DLM 2025 Completed for ABFC Thaiyak in Perth

Nov 3, 2025

AST Oceanics is proud to announce the successful completion of the 11th Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) activity of ABFC Thaiyak in Perth as part of ASTO’s ongoing In-Service Support (ISS) commitment to the Australian Border Force.  This milestone marks more than just another successful DLM, as it sets a benchmark for conducting this level of maintenance in Perth. As the first DLM delivered to an ABF vessel locally, Thaiyak has served as the proving ground for a successful model.

Across 38 days and in collaboration with our principal sub-contractor, Echo Marine Group (EMG), our team delivered 99% completion of all scheduled and emergent works in the approved DLM work list. This is an outstanding result, that reflects the dedication and professionalism of both ASTO and EMG.

An experienced ASTO team, some of whom were part of Thaiyak’s original build and delivery in 2014; planned, controlled and implemented the DLM program. Working in close cooperation with the ABF, and led by our Fleet Technical Manager, Anuj Sharma, and assisted by our internationally certified marine engineers, Vikas Gupta and Bob Mansfield, the DLM was delivered on time, and within the specified quality standards and approved budget.

As a true team effort, ASTO’s Support Team also played a critical role. Our Business Systems Manager, Cindy Wells, led and coordinated the efforts of our Accountant, Brooke Wylie; Support Coordinator, Michelle Sesko; and Project Assistant, Melissa Kelly, and handled the heavy administrative and financial demands of the DLM, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This achievement builds on 11 years of a proven and trusted relationship with ABF, and is a testament to ASTO’s commitment to operational excellence and delivering success for our client.  For over a decade, ASTO’s partnership with ABF has consistently delivered positive outcomes for the ABF and Thaiyak. The successful delivery of DLM 2025 again highlights the professionalism, dedication, and technical excellence that continue to define ASTO’s approach to maritime support.
